Our Beautiful Torah Scroll
The above picture is the beginning sheet of our Torah Scroll. The following picture is the Aron/Ark that was made specially for our scroll.
Our Torah Scroll is a precious work of love, painstakingly handwritten by a skilled sopher. With its rich history spanning two centuries, it holds a special place in our hearts. Originating from a synagogue in Kiev, Ukraine, it carries the legacy of our very own Rabbi's family, who resided there two centuries ago. This ancient scroll is a testament to the enduring traditions and deep-rooted connections of our community. Each stroke of the sopher's pen bespeaks the reverence and devotion poured into its creation. As we unfurl its delicate parchment, we are reminded of the countless generations before us who cherished these sacred words. Our Torah Scroll not only serves as a symbol of our heritage, but as a guide to illuminate our path towards spiritual enlightenment.
Every part of our scroll is very special. The covering was made especially for this particular scroll. The wooden spindles, called Etz Chayim (Tree of Life), were handcrafted by a skilled artisan for our scroll. The Breastplate/Mantle came from our Rabbi's old congregation in Denver, Colorado. Even the Ark which houses the scroll was made especially for this scroll by two members of our congregation.
It truly is a very special Torah Scroll that connects the past to our present and will go on with us into the future.
