What this website collects, who handles it, and how to have yours deleted.
Last updated October 5, 2026.
The short version
- Apart from a count of page visits and Cloudflare's short-lived request logs, we collect only what you choose to send us: a message, a prayer request, a question, or your email address for the mailing list.
- We never sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
- This website sets no cookies of its own and needs no account.
- To see or delete what you have sent, send us a message.
What you send us
Messages and prayer requests
The form on the Contact us page asks for your name, your email address, your phone number if you want to give it, your message, and what kind of message it is. It is saved on this site and emailed to the congregation's inbox, where the leadership reads it, and you receive a short confirmation by email that does not repeat what you wrote.
A prayer request is held in confidence. It is read by the leadership, it is never shown anywhere on this website, and it is never passed through the automatic spam check described below. Apart from the services named below, which store it and deliver it for us, it is not shared outside the leadership.
Questions for the Rabbi
The Ask the Rabbi form asks for your question, and your name and email address only if you choose to give them. It is saved on this site and emailed to the Rabbi, who is part of the leadership. Your question stays private. If it would help others, you may be asked whether it can go among the questions on our Visiting page. With your agreement it appears there with its answer, with anything that could identify you taken out, and never with your name or email address.
The mailing list
The mailing list box asks only for your email address. It is saved on this site and sent to the Rabbi, who adds you by hand to the list he keeps for the weekly teachings and news. That list is kept outside this website. To come off it, send us a message.
Searching the teachings
Ask the teachings, and the search box in the little scroll, use what you type to find passages in the Rabbi's teachings, with the help of Cloudflare's AI service. Your words are not saved in this site's database: only a scrambled fingerprint of them is kept for a day, so the same question is answered faster. What you type there, and in the teaching archive's search box, travels in the page's address, so it stays in your own browser's history, and Cloudflare's request logs keep that address for up to a week.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or give away what you send us, and we do not use it for advertising. There is no advertising on this site, and we add no tracking of our own; the Google map and YouTube player described below work under Google's own rules. Visitors do not have accounts here.
Checks against spam
On pages with a form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is using it. It looks at your browser and your internet (IP) address, and never at what you write.
Every message except a prayer request, and every question for the Rabbi, is read by an automatic check using Cloudflare's AI service, along with the name and email address given with it, to spot sales pitches and advertisements. Prayer requests and mailing list sign-ups never are. A message the check flags is still kept and still shown to the leadership in the site's admin; they are simply not emailed about it.
Who else handles it
Like most websites, this one runs on outside services. They handle information to run the site and its email for us.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and its database, and provides the spam checks above, the search behind Ask the teachings, and a count of page visits, with which page, the kind of browser and how fast it loaded (Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies). Every visit passes through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address and the page you asked for, and keeps a log of each page address asked for, including anything typed into the site's search boxes, for up to a week. If your browser ever fails to reach the site, it may send Cloudflare a short error report with the page address and the kind of error.
- Resend sends this site's emails: the notices to the leadership, which contain what you wrote, and your confirmation. It keeps a copy of each email for up to 30 days.
- Google provides the Gmail mailboxes where those notices arrive. The home page and the teaching pages also show YouTube's preview pictures and play recordings, including the live service, through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, and the Contact us page shows a Google map. When those load, Google receives your IP address, browser details and which page you are on, under Google's own privacy policy.
- FaithBuilt Development built this website and looks after it, and can reach the systems where it is stored, only to keep the site running.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own for visitors. The only cookie it uses is for signing in to the site's admin, which only the people who look after the site do. If you hide the little scroll in the corner, your browser remembers that choice on your own device, and nothing is sent to us. Cloudflare's check on the pages with a form, YouTube's player and Google's map may store information in your browser under their own rules.
How long it is kept
Messages, prayer requests, questions and mailing list sign-ups are kept on this site until the leadership deletes them, and you can ask for yours to be deleted at any time. Deleting your sign-up here does not take you off the Rabbi's list; a message asking to come off it does.
After deletion, copies can remain elsewhere: in the database's own history for up to 30 days, at Resend for up to 30 days, in Cloudflare's request logs for up to a week, and in the emails already delivered to the leadership until they delete them.
Your choices
You can ask to see what you have sent us, to have it deleted, and to be taken off the mailing list. Send us a message and say what you would like.
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
